The US Navy developed the Seawolf Class in an effort to reestablish its technological superiority over the Soviet Union. Ten times quieter than the enhanced Los Angeles Class, it cruises at 20 knots and is essentially impossible to spot.

Seawolf Class submarines are unparalleled in their capability to engage multiple targets concurrently and possess eight torpedo tubes. However, due to its exorbitant price, only three were constructed. In spite of this, the Seawolf Class continues to exert its dominance over the ocean, surpassing even the more recent Virginia Class.
