Sikorsky CH-54, the US Army’s extraordinary heavy-lift helicopter

In the history of helicopter development, there have been many with unique shapes, of which the CH-54 is a typical case. The Sikorky CH-54 Tarhe is a dual-engine, heavy-lift transport helicopter designed by Sikorsky Aircraft for the United States Army. It was named after Tarhe, a leader of the Wyandot Indian tribe in the 18th century, nicknamed “Crane”, in the language of this tribe Tarhe means crane. This aircraft has a version used in civil operations, the Sikorsky S-64 Skycrane.
