Designed and developed by the Mil Moscow Helicopter company in 1972 and ordered by the Soviet Air Force, the Mi-24 is used in Russia and more than 30 other countries around the world – including NATO countries.
In October 2007, the Russian Air Force announced that it would replace 250 existing Mi-24 aircraft with 300 modern Mi-38 fighter aircraft or, if possible, K-50 aircraft by 2015.
Because it is a heavy combat helicopter, the Mi-24’s weaponry is extremely notable: Yak-B mаchine gun with a maximum of 1,470 12.7mm bullets; The GUV-8700 mаchine gun array is combined with 7.62mm, 12.7mm and even 30mm gu𝚗 barrels; S-5 mιssιle launcher named UB-32, S-24 mιssιle with diameter of 240mm; AT-2B anti-tank missiles at the wing tips and finally 1.5 tons of bombs.
