Certainly an unnatural spectacle, but nonetheless magnificent. Two succinct expressions aptly capture the emotions one experiences upon beholding a collection of F-16 FigҺting Falcons, each positioned in an upright position while being piloted by aerobatics experts and adorned in the vibrant colors of the United States. The United States Air Force (USAF), its personnel, and its assets are inexhaustible repositories of breathtaking images that continue to be unveiled. For this Sunday’s Photo of the Day, we selected an additional image that provided a view into the earlier this year exploits of the USAF’s Thunderbirds.
The initial mentаl image that emerges when one reflects on aircraft, including those associated with aerobatics teams, is that of a mechanized object traversing the ground horizontally or executing a particular feat. However, one thing that escapes the consciousness is the type of complete vertical flight that is observed during rocket launches.
However, that is not an unusual occurrence for the Thunderbirds. Since August, when they were photographing directly above the Abbotsford International Air Show in Abbotsford, British Colombia, the most recent USAF image depicts them.

Observations indicate that only four of the five aircraft adorned with the colors of the American flag are traversing the same course; the fifth, positioned at the farthest point, is attempting to deviate from the dynamic formation.
Despite having a very hectic year in 2022, the Thunderbirds continue to perform. The team will participate in four distinct aviation shows this month, commencing in Huntington Beach, California, and concluding in Sanford, Florida, in the final days.
Since the onset of the pаndemic two years ago, the Abbotsford International Air Show did not convene for the first time this year. It was deemed a triumph by its administrators, notwithstanding certain challenges arising from the surge in traffic within the area.
