The US military orders 45 more UH-72A Lakota helicopters, increasing the number of fleets to 178

The US Army General Command has planned to purchаse 45 additional UH-72A Lakota helicopters manufactured by the North American branch of the European Aviation Manufacturing Complex EADS – Eurocopter.

According to Defense Aerospace, the total value of this additional contract is about 247 million USԀ. After being received, the UH-72A Lakota will undertake many different tasks such as transportation, ambulance… in the US military.

Up to now, the total number of UH-72A Lakota aircraft ordered by the US military has reached 178. It is expected that the first UH-72A Lakota under this contract will be delivered to the US in 2011.

Previously, the US Air Force also received a Eurocpter H-72A helicopter in the army’s order of 5 aircraft above. The Eurocpter H-72A is currently being used at the US pilot and test pilot training school in Maryland.

The Eurocpter H-72A is currently used by American and allied pilots during practice flights. The H-72A aircraft being equipped today are upgraded versions with emerge𝚗cy exit systems, pilot activity recording devices and foldable wing systems. The US military currently owns 93 UH-72A Lakota helicopters.

The H-72A and UH-72A are improved versions of the EC145 civil passenger helicopter line manufactured at Eurocopter’s factory in Columbus, Mississippi (USA). According to the plan, the US military will buy up to 345 UH-72A helicopters by 2016.

The H-72A and UH-72A aircraft are capable of transporting 9 passengers with an operating radius of about 685 km. The average speed of this aircraft is 268km/h.
